In Naples, patron saint festivals are among the most authentic expressions of local culture. They are not only religious observances, but collective moments where devotion, music, tradition and neighbourhood life come together in public spaces.

In recent years, the Department of Tourism and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Naples has promoted a city-wide calendar of these celebrations, involving all municipal districts and enhancing them as an integral part of the urban experience.

A programme that stretches across the city—from east to west, from the historic centre to hillside and peripheral areas—offering visitors the opportunity to discover a vibrant, participatory and deeply rooted Naples.

Feast of Sant’Erasmo ai Granili

  • San Giovanni a Teduccio district – Diocesan Sanctuary of Sant’Erasmo ai Granili
  • Late May – early June

Traditionally linked to the patron saint of sailors, this celebration takes place in an area historically connected to the port and maritime activities, maintaining a strong bond with seafaring culture.

  • Festive lights: artistic illuminations mark the beginning of the celebrations
  • Liturgical celebrations: novena, solemn masses and spiritual moments organised by the parish
  • Popular events: concerts, music and entertainment in Largo Sant’Erasmo 

Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua

In the heart of the historic centre, this celebration takes place within one of the city’s most important monumental complexes, combining popular devotion and urban participation.

  • Blessing of bread: the traditional Saint Anthony’s bread is blessed and distributed
  • Celebrations and music: often accompanied by sacred and classical music
  • Procession: usually in the afternoon through the surrounding streets
