This itinerary begins in the square dedicated to Totò in the heart of the Rione Sanità, passes near his birthplace, runs alongside the walls featuring a mural in his honour, and reaches Via Vitale, where one of the dramatic episodes of L’Oro di Napoli unfolds—featuring Totò in a rare tragic role, as well as in the comic guise of the “Pazzariello”, famously descending the steps proclaiming: “Attenziò… battagliò!”
The same location was chosen for the episode starring Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni in Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, and much of Mario Martone’s recent masterpiece Nostalgia was filmed in these very streets.
From the Sanità district, the route continues towards the Miracoli area and Capodimonte. The area around the Veterinary Clinic and the ascent of Moiariello has served as a set for several films, including Seven Beauties and Nasty Love.
