Città della Scienza

On the western edge of the city, where Naples meets the sea in a more open and industrial landscape, stands one of its most forward-looking spaces. Città della Scienza, in Bagnoli, is a place where knowledge, innovation and imagination come together to shape a new vision of the city.

Città della Scienza
  • From industry to knowledge

Città della Scienza was created in the 1990s within the former Italsider steelworks, once a symbol of Naples’ industrial identity. The transformation of this area into a science and cultural hub is one of Italy’s most significant examples of urban regeneration.
After a major fire in 2013, the complex was rebuilt, reinforcing its role as a key center for science communication.

  • A museum to experience

At its core is the Science Centre, one of Italy’s first interactive science museums. Here, science becomes experience: exhibitions, labs and installations engage visitors of all ages.

The site also includes educational spaces, workshops and family activities
exhibitions and events.

  • Curiosities to discover

One of Italy’s leading centers for interactive science communication.
Located in a former industrial area deeply tied to Naples’ history.
Its reconstruction became a symbol of resilience and renewal.
A reinvented Naples

Città della Scienza is more than a museum — it is a living laboratory. It represents a contemporary Naples, constantly evolving and looking toward the future.
