Inside, there is no traditional art gallery, but a veritable "cabinet of curiosities": the Gaetano Filangieri Civic Museum.
This place is the dream, the obsession, and the testament of one man, Prince Gaetano Filangieri junior. An intellectual and collector who, in the late 19th century, poured all his passion into it. He committed a mad and magnificent act of love: when the palace was condemned to demolition to make way for the new street, he bought it, had it dismantled stone by stone, and reassembled 20 meters further back, saving it.
Visiting the Filangieri Museum means stepping into his private salon. It is an intimate experience, an immersion into an eclectic and refined taste, "at the service of the arts and the fatherland."
You walk among gleaming armor, precious porcelain, sculptures, and paintings by great masters. But the palace's beating heart is the magnificent Sala Agata (Agata Hall), the library named after the prince's beloved wife. Here, under a sumptuous ceiling, 30,000 ancient volumes dialogue with one of the most beautiful majolica floors in the city.
It is a treasure chest of pure beauty, a refuge from time, where the love for art and history can be felt in every single object.
