Here, magic is a serious business. It is not just a name: it is an artisan workshop set up like a real hospital. There are "doctors" in white coats, "wards," and specialized "departments": orthopedics for broken limbs, ophthalmology for lost eyes, and tailoring for worn-out little clothes.
The patients? They are dolls, teddy bears, and stuffed toys. Each one arrives with its own story, its own trauma, and is checked in with a "medical chart" and a diagnosis.
This real-life fairytale began in the late 19th century. The founder, Luigi Grassi, was not an artisan, but a set designer for theaters and presepi (nativity scenes). He created worlds. People from the neighborhood began bringing him their broken toys, saying they were "sick" (ammalate) and that he was the only "doctor" able to save them.
Luigi accepted the challenge, transforming his workshop into the first, true "Hospital."
Today, that same art, made of patience, plaster, glue, and love, is carried on by his great-granddaughter, Tiziana. Visiting this place means entering a sanctuary of nostalgia. It is a moving experience, because here they don't just repair toys; they stitch childhood memories back together, they mend memory, and they preserve tenderness.
