An Oasis of Extraordinary Beauty
Commissioned in 1807 by Joseph Bonaparte, this is not a simple garden. It is a scientific and cultural institution of the Federico II University, a place of "extraordinary beauty" that stretches for twelve hectares in the heart of the urban fabric.
A Journey Around the World
Walking here is an experience that suspends time. It is a journey that, in just a few steps, takes you from the arid climates of the desert area to the shady coolness of the fern valley. It is losing yourself under the monumental fronds of the Palm Grove (Palmeto), discovering aquatic plants, and admiring the collections housed in the ancient Greenhouses, such as the Monumental Greenhouse (Serra Monumentale).
The Castle and the Silence
While strolling, you will even come across a 16th-17th-century Castle, today a research centre, which adds a further touch of historic charm.
The Royal Botanical Garden is a true "oasis of tranquility." It is the place to find "respite from the frenzy" of the city, an invitation to slow down, breathe, and rediscover the wonder of nature, in a silent dialogue between science and beauty.
